Commercial Plumbing: $185K Premium Reduction
AOR performed a full Total Cost of Risk Review, including payroll and classification validation, vehicle and driver analysis, loss-trend development, and a line-by-line contract compliance review. We helped the client formalize MVR standards, telematics oversight, supervisor accountability, and subcontractor risk-transfer procedures. The submission was rebuilt around the contractor's controls and marketed to construction-focused carriers as one coordinated program rather than a collection of separate policies.
Rapid growth had pushed the contractor's annual insurance cost to approximately $580,000. The program contained inconsistent Workers' Compensation classifications, rising Commercial Auto pricing, and gaps between General Liability, Contractors Equipment, and Installation coverage. A small number of vehicle losses were receiving more underwriting attention than the company's improving overall trend, and the existing policies did not consistently satisfy the insurance requirements in its construction contracts.
The annual premium was reduced from approximately $580,000 to $395,000, producing $185,000 in annual savings, approximately 32%. The new program aligned renewal dates, maintained the required umbrella protection, broadened equipment and installation coverage, and significantly reduced the administrative burden of meeting owner and general contractor requirements.
